Build the technique Jason teaches in every live class
Finger independence, touch, pedalling, hand coordination, posture — the physical craft of playing piano, explained from thousands of real teaching moments.
How do I develop finger independence in my left hand?
Jason's drill: hold down a chord with your left hand and then lift each finger individually without disturbing the others. Start with the pinky — it's the least independent. Do this slowly before adding any rhythm. The goal isn't speed, it's conscious control over each finger.

Q
When should I use the sustain pedal?
Jason's rule: pedal follows the harmony, not the beat. Change the pedal when the chord changes, not on the first beat automatically. If you're playing a slow piece, you can blur within a chord but clear before the next chord arrives. Pedal on the beat is a beginner habit — pedal with the harmony is musicianship.
